In rescue, we believe the end of a dog’s life is just as important as the beginning. That’s why we try our best to maintain a Fospice Program-a place where senior or terminally ill dogs can spend their final chapters surrounded by love, not kennel walls. This is a beautiful, brave way to foster. You provide a soft bed, a steady hand, and a heart full of love for a dog who doesn’t have much time left. You are giving them the dignity and comfort they deserve to cross the Rainbow Bridge knowing they were cherished.

This handsome fella is on the search for a foster home to live out his days. Meet Mookie the sweetest Dobie ever! He is crate trained, but prefers to just lounge around the house. He doesn't care much for cats or rowdy dogs, he does have a bit of spunk left and you'd never know there's anything wrong with him until you see him walk or run. Mookie is only 7 years old so, he does have a good bit of time left, he just might not be an easy fit for adoption. He does have daily medications he needs, so someone who is comfortable with making sure he has those daily is a must! He can do one or two steps to get in or out of the house but he cannot do a full set of stairs, he can load into a low car or minivan but, would need assistance with a truck, he also needs his food made into mush since he only has a few teeth left. He is heartworm positive currently, so due to his daily needs he is on a slow kill treatment vs regular treatment. VSDR will supply all of his vetting, medications, food, bed, monthly preventatives etc...forever!
