Many situations may lead to the need for surrendering your dog. We are completely foster based; therefore, we have only limited homes available for new dogs. Unfortunately, many Dobermans end up in shelters. Their dispositions do not do well in that environment, their increased stress levels lead to lack of appetite, increased kennel aggression and deterioration in health which all lead to a less likely chance of being adopted. We try to pull Dobermans in shelters as soon as possible to decrease this stress level. We also pull sheltered dogs to decrease the likelihood of  them falling into undesirable hands.

Please fill out the owner surrender form and we will place the dog on a waiting list. We will contact you as foster homes become available. Please keep us updated on any new status of your dog needing to come into rescue.

There is an intake fee if your dog needs vetting to help offset the cost. $50 if your dog just needs shots and a heartworm test. $100 if they need this plus spay/neuter.

VSDR reserves the right to require a surrender fee of $50 for a spayed/neutered dog and $100 for an INTACT dog. This surrender fee is used towards the care and veterinary needs of the dog mentioned on this form, and can be waived only by approval of a Board Member. By signing this form, you agree that you, your spouse, and/or any co-owner of the dog described on this form are irrevocably transferring and relinquishing to Volunteer State Doberman Rescue legal ownership of said dog on the date signed by both you and a representative of Volunteer State Doberman Rescue. This gives VSDR complete authority to take whatever actions in our sole judgment are necessary and in the best interest of the dog.
